Esteros
del Iberá Lodge

A lodge between water and sky

Scroll down slowly, nobody rushes anyone here
Chapter I  ·  The Sanctuary
“One touch of nature makes the whole world kin.”
William Shakespeare

You do not just visit the Iberá: you live in it for a few days. Here the morning starts with a bird chorus that needs no alarm clock, the afternoon drifts among floating gardens and night falls under a sky that has never known electric light. Our lodge is a refuge where nature, wildlife conservation and the people of the estero meet.

Chapter II  ·  The Ritual

A day in the estero

05:48Sunrise

The chorus of the estero

“Study nature, love nature.”

The chajás and the scarlet-headed blackbirds sing before the sun is up. Fresh coffee on the veranda, binoculars in hand and the first safari of the day: at this hour the lagoon is a mirror nobody has touched yet.

11:00Morning

Kayaking through the reeds

You paddle along channels of water that is dark and crystal clear at once, past capybaras that watch you glide by without moving an inch. The silence only breaks with the dip of the paddle and the odd kingfisher.

16:30Afternoon

Correntino horseback ride

“Autumn is a second spring.”

On horseback through the palm groves, at the unhurried pace of country people. Every season paints the estero a different colour and no two are alike.

If it rains

Just let it rain

“Just let it rain.”

Mate, books, rain on the veranda roof and the estero drinking it all in. Rainy days here are not lost: they are gained.

19:12Sunset

Golden hour by boat

A slow cruise as the sun goes down and the water catches fire. Caimans on the banks, marsh deer among the water hyacinths and a sky you cannot explain over the phone.

22:00Night

The southern sky

With no light pollution for a hundred kilometres around, the Milky Way comes out whole. A glass of wine, armchairs facing the lagoon and the stars doing the rest.
